A recent report by RMC Sport revealed that the Gunners had entered a specific phase of negotiations for Aouar and an offer of £ 32 million ( EUR 35 million) for his services.

However, it appears that Les Gones' offer was immediately rejected and the same was confirmed by Aulas through his official Twitter account .

Aulas revealed that the Gunners are too far removed from the player's worth and supported the playmaker to get Les Gones back into the Champions League next season.

"For Houssem Arsenal is too far removed from its worth: we are counting on him to play a great game in Lorient and OL will lead in CL next year," he tweeted. [19659003] The Gunners lacked the presence of a creative midfielder. Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos only managed three goals and four assists last season.

Aouar would offer them an instant upgrade with its box-to-box capability. The Frenchman scored nine goals and ten assists in all competitions last season.

Les Gones reportedly fetched approximately £ 54.7 million (EUR 60 million) for Aouar and the Gunners may have to get money back from player sales to meet the price.

Mikel Arteta's team have already cleared the sale of goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa for £ 20m and are currently trying to part ways with midfielder Lucas Torreira.

Atletico Madrid wants to borrow the Uruguay international with an option to buy. However, the Gunners are keen to include a mandatory purchase clause in the proposed move.
