Report: Mourinho greatly admires Interstar, possible reference to January – originally published on Sportslens.com
According to Eurosport Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho greatly admires Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, and a move could happen in the January transfer window.
While the Portuguese doesn't expect any business to be done this month he wouldn't mind adding more depth to his squad.
Spurs have underperformed in the last third in their last four games, scoring only three times and only collecting two points, and a striker with more experience and quality could help increase their top four chances.
Perisic was linked to Tottenham over the summer and it will be interesting to see if they leave this month after he signed.
Mourinho wanted the Croatian international when he was boss at Manchester United and he may be interested in signing it as he wants to end the campaign on an impressive note and with cutlery.
The 31-year-old has scored once and has assisted twice in nine Serie A starts for Inter this season and he's not a big part of manager Antonio Conte's plans for the first team.
For this reason, he was loaned to Bayern Munich last season and was able to leave Inter this month in search of regular game minutes.
Perisic can play over the front and behind a striker and is one of the best finishers in the game.
Tottenham could use their versatility and quality in front of goal, but whether chairman Daniel Levy is looking to do business in the winter transfer market remains to be seen.
Mourinho has relied solely on the brilliance of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son so far this season, and having a player who can help take that burden off them will be a tremendous relief.
Perisic has everything it takes to add to Spurs' attack and landing him this month could make a huge difference in their campaign.
