fans have turned in Reported to social media to play at Newcastle United's Sean Longstaff for an attempt to defeat the referee in the FA Cup third round against Arsenal.
Chris Kavanagh put Emile Smith-Rowe on the red card for a foul on Longstaff and triggered a loud scream from the Magpies midfielder.
On the advice of his VAR, Andre Marriner, he downgraded the red to yellow after checking the footage on the pitchside monitor.
This indicated that there was little contact between the two players and that there had been pourings of anger on social media.
Longstaff is nothing but a fraud. Deliberately tried to mislead the referee into sending off an opponent. Barely touched but screamed and rolled around like a child until a red card was made

The only reason the referee thought he might have blushed was Longstaff's ridiculous scream, little cheater! Good job VAR came in and worked

Sorry, but what was Longstaff playing there? Smith-Rowe barely touched the guy and he went down like that? This is pure idiocy. I don't rate players who intentionally try to cheat the referee to get into trouble. Horrible to see. #ARSNEW #FACup
