Tottenham's Sergio Reguilon in connection with Real Madrid return – originally published on Sportslens.com
Tottenham could soon lose Sergio Reguilon to Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old left-back joined The London Club earlier this summer and has been very impressive so far for the Premier League.
However, it appears that Real Madrid could exercise their buyback clause and bring the Spaniard back to the club. According to AS, the Spanish giants will have to pay around 10 million euros more than they received from Tottenham for Reguilon.
Real Madrid star Marcelo has peaked and is about to drop out of the team. With Ferland Mendy the only reliable left-back in the squad, it's understandable why Real Madrid are considering the option of bringing Reguilon back.
The Spurs ace is now an established international for Spain and has also proven its quality in the Premier League. Reguilon is only 23 years old and could do better with experience and regular first-team football.
It is possible that he could become a top left-back in the future, and the buyback clause in his contract seems like a wise move from Real Madrid now.
Tottenham will be thoroughly disappointed if Real Madrid return to Reguilon at the end of this season or in the near future.
The Spaniard is already the club's best left-back and he's a big upgrade for Ben Davies. Tottenham will have to work hard to replace him when he leaves next summer.
Jose Mourinho has finally managed to put together a competitive squad and the last thing he needs is for Real Madrid to come in and grab one of their prized possessions
It will be interesting to see how Reguilon reacts when his former club calls again. He left the club in search of regular football and Real Madrid must give him those assurances if he is to be signed again.
Also, Zidane must accept the player as part of his plans for the first team. The Real Madrid manager was reportedly not particularly keen on the 23-year-old and that's why Los Blancos decided to win him earlier this summer.
