Leon Osman Suggests What Man Utd Must Think of a £ 21M Everton Player – Originally published on Sportslens.com
Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman praised Allan what other Premier League clubs suggest was missing a ploy by not signing him.
Allan was one of the midfielders available in the market during the summer transfer window. Carlo Ancelotti returned to his previous club and secured his signature. Napoli paid a handsome fee of £ 21.7 million.
The Brazilian defensive midfielder quickly settled in at his new club and formed an excellent partnership with another summer signing Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Osman has claimed that Allan impressed him the most of all of the club's summer signatures. The 29-year-old was brilliant on his debut against Spurs and put in another top-level performance in the 1-0 win over Chelsea last week.
Allan has played 11 Premier League games this season, and Osman feels different Premier League heavyweights like Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have to kick themselves for missing his signature.
“He does all the jobs a team needs without getting the praise. He doesn't make the highlights.
"He goes about his business and makes everyone around him seem like better players," Osman told Liverpool Echo .
"I have a feeling that a lot of teams – Man City, Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea – are looking at him and thinking we missed the boat here." "He's a player who does all the different tasks the position requires and he's also of the highest quality on the ball.
“Man City had this player with Fernandinho but they tried bring Rodri to replace him but he's not quite the same. United tried Fred and McTominay. And at Chelsea we all know Edge can play the defensive side, but the question of can he play the full role? Allan does it. ”
United need a defensive midfielder
Allan has done remarkably well at Everton and could have made a very good signing for the Red Devils too. In addition to signing a right winger, signing a defensive midfielder is also a priority for the Red Devils.
Scott McTominay and Fred are United's preferred midfield partnership, with Nemanja Matic remaining another option for defensive midfield.
Osman is Allan is not only good at duels, but also at the ball.
The Red Devils don't need another ball winner like McTominay, but look at a player who can get past midfield. People like Eduardo Camavinga and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could be good options for the club but the club is unlikely to fix this issue in January.
